Day 113 - The Whitsundays

Day 113 - Wednesday - 9/9/2026

Early this morning we chomped down on our delicious endless breakfast buffet in the lobby. Soon after we boarded the boat for our tour to Whitehaven Beach and snorkelling around Hook Island. I sat right on the edge of the boat where the ride got pretty bumpy as we were flying across the ocean at great speeds and sometimes it got hard to stay on, the only thing keeping me from flying of the into deep water where two straps that I had to grip tightly.

Soon enough we had pulled up at the edge of Hill Inlet on Whitsunday Island. We hopped into the knee-deep water, walked ashore, and shortly after starting the climb to the 3 spectacular lookouts overlooking Whitehaven beach. The beach of pure white silica and crystal-clear turquoise water often known as one of the world's best beaches with 600,000 people visiting every year, being there you could clearly see why.

Continuing on the journey we walked down to the beach where the aggressive seagulls tried to steal our lunch. Unlike other sand the fine silica was cold and squishy looking a bit like foam when pulled out of the water. We had around an hour at the beach where we splashed around in the water and saw heaps of stingrays burying themselves in the sand.

After the extravagant Whitehaven Beach we got back on the boat and bounced our way to the first snorkelling area around the side of Hook Island called Manta Ray Bay where we jumped into the water with thousands of fish and even more colourful coral.

For our second and final snorkelling spot we stopped the boat at butterfly bay where we saw a White-tip Reef-shark and of course more coral and other fish.

For the grand finale we got back on the boat and drove back to Daydream but before we parked the boat, we spend 5 minuets speeding around doing three sixties and tilting the boat in all directions. At the end of the day, we went back to Salti and had another delicious meal.
