Lake Argyle  Day 67 - Saturday - 25/7/2026 Today a 2:30 we got picked up for our cruise on Lake Argyle where we got on the boat and met Greg our captain who owned the company. He guided us through the lake and made a turn around an island where we saw our first Short-eared Rock-wallabies, there were 3 adults and 1 joey on the ledge that Greg threw a little bit of food to.  2 Short-eared Rock-wallabies Then we sailed over to the dam wall where Greg told us some interesting facts about the dam. He said that the dam was built in three years from 1969 through to 1971 and was suggested to be built by Kimberly Durack and cost the government approximately 24 million dollars to build which is a very small amount considering the massive body of water it contains, the equivalent to the amount of water to 21 Sydney Harbours.   Day 65 - Thursday - 23/7/2026 This morning we drove to Zebedee Springs and walk around in the hot water. There was a start 300m walk to the springs alongside the lush vegetation and huge cliffs. The springs weren’t two big because a bunch of rocks had fallen down into the springs blocking it off.  A small part of Zebedee Springs The crystal-clear water was super warm, and I found my spot in a rock pool where I built a dam and Me and Seb caught a tadpole. Us in Zebedee Springs The tadpole In the afternoon we went on a cruise through Chamberlain Gorge. During the cruise we saw a few Short-eared Rock-wallabies. At the end of the Cruise, we fed the fish in the water and had the Archer Fish spit at us with water when we held the food over the edge.  Feeding the fish On the way back to the car the instructor said the first person to spot a Rock-wallaby wins a bottle of champagne and I was the first person to spot one but since I can't drink champagne, I won a bottle of orange...

Day 64 - Wednesday - 22/7/2026 Today we drove into El Questro Gorge on the nicely graded road where we went on an extremely difficult walk. The walk started almost straight away in the gorge along the river where we instantly had to cross creeks. It was taking a while because we were trying to keep our shoes dry so we decided to put our crocs on and that made the whole walk a lot faster because we could then walk in the water. Walking in the water through the gorge A bit later we reached the halfway pool which is where the shorter walk returned and now we would have to wear our crocs to proceed on the long walk because we had to cross water up to our stomachs and then climb a massive boulder which was extremely difficult especially for Seb who wasn’t tall enough and grandpa who has dodgy knees.  Climbing the boulder From here on the walk increased in difficulty by about 5 times.  Day 62 - Monday - 20/7/2026 This morning we drove to El Questro, it was a short and bumpy dirt road with a few creek crossings luckily there was a grader parked on the side of the road that had been fixing the road. It was a pretty big caravan park with lots of caravans and nice, shady sites. Once we had set up, we went for a swim in the river. Day 63 - Tuesday - 21/7/2026 Today we drove to Emma Gorge. From the resort we did a walk through the gorge to the top waterfall and plunge pool. The walk was mainly over loose rocks and large boulders alongside the river where we had to do some rock hopping to cross over it without getting our shoes wet.  Walking over the creek The last 100m of the walk was a steep climb up to the top pool. The gorge was pretty big with tall walls cutting straight down to the ground where there was a lot of different vegetation. The Bungle Bungles Day 61 - Sunday - 19/7/2026 Today we woke up early and drove on the WORST road I have ever been on so that we could get to the Bungle Bungles. Even though the drive was only about 100km it still took us about 2 hours. The first 50km was on the sealed road so it only took us about half an hour but then we hit the dirt and it slowed us down a lot, not only because of the corrugations but also because we had to drive through flowing creeks and dips along the road, by the end of the day we had crossed 16 creeks. This section of the drive took us 1 hour and 44 minutes despite being a similar number of kilometres to the sealed road so even though we left at 6:30 we arrived at the Visitors Centre around 9AM. We had a look at the map and decided what to do so then we drove another 45 minutes on the horrible road. Day 59 - Friday - 17/7/2026 Today we drove to Hidden Valley and went on about a 5km walk to some lookouts. We walked up to the first lookout through the massive sandstone rocks and at the top of the lookout you could see a bunch of hills, mountains and the Kununurra township. The view As we were walking back down to the ground, we saw a White-Quilled Rock-pigeon perched on the rocks.  White-quilled Rock-pigeon Then we started the long and harder part of the walk up and over loose rocks and to different lookouts. As we walked further along the sandstone, we eventually reached the third and final lookout so now we started walking down into a chasm will sandstone walls surrounding us. eventually we reached another section where we had to go up and then back down and now, we were back to where we started. Day 58 - Thursday - 16/7/2026 Today we were picked up from our accommodation at 9AM by JJJ Tours who brought us to our boat where we met our captain Will and sailed off to collect some more passengers.  Us at the boat The start of the ride we went pretty fast but once we came to Maxwell Creek we started cruising a lot slower around 1 Cow Island, the reason 1 Cow Island got its name was because one wet season 1 cow got washed up onto the island and spent its rest of its days there. While cruising through Maxwell Creek we saw a few Jacanas, Darters and Cormorants. Day 55 -Monday - 13/7/2026 Today we left Victoria River Roadhouse and drove to Keep River National Park. At keep River we stopped at the visitor's centre where we walked to a billabong where there were a few ducks and egrets. Then we set up camp at our site and then went on the Janemoom Walk which went through a large canyon to some rock art that was under a precarious overhang that looked like it could fall any moment.
