Day 90 - Kuranda
Day 90 - Sunday - 16/8/2026
This morning we drove to Freshwater Railway Station where we boarded the train to Kuranda.
| The train |
Our scenic ride went through the mountains in the rain where we saw multiple waterfalls. The first one wasn't the tallest, but it definitely had the most water coming over it.

For the second waterfall we stopped and got off the train where had a view of Barron Gorge and the high waterfall all while it was drizzling with rain.

After the butterfly sanctuary we had lunch and the entered Birdworld Kuranda where we saw heaps of different birds, my favourite was the Brown Quail.
| Scarlet Macaw - South America |
You could also feed the birds but some of them where more interested in my fingers than the food.

Then we went back to the butterfly sanctuary to which them release all the newborn butterflies. It we supposed to happen at 2:30 but we ended up waiting till 3:00 only to find out that the butterflies weren't going to be released because there weren't enough of them so then we drove back home.
