Day 43 - Darwin Territory Wildlife Park

 Day 43 - Wednesday - 1/7/2026

Today we left Batchelor and drove to Darwin, on the way we stopped at the Territory Wildlife Park. The first thing we did was catch a van to the pelican feeding. The man fed the Pelicans some fish for breakfast and the pelicans started fighting each other for it.

Then we caught the train to the flight deck to watch the free-flight bird show. None of the birds were the same as the ones in the show at allice springs except for the black-breasted buzzard. They showed a Bustard, an Emu, a Black-necked Stalk AKA Jabiru, a Barn Owl and a Brahminy Kite.

Then we went to the nocturnal house, there were a bunch of bats and one of them was tiny. There were also a bunch of little mammals like wallabies, bandicoots, and phascogales. Next, we went to Bugtopia which had a bunch of GIANT bugs, they also had two Frilled-neck Lizards.

After that we went to the monsoon rainforest where we walked through all the bird aviaries and saw heaps of different birds.

Proceeding on we went to the Aquarium which had lots of colourful fish, a few sharks and a HUGE 4 metre Saltwater Crocodile. There was also a glass tunnel we got to walk under, and it had a lot of fish.

Finally, we went to Goose Lagoon where we saw a few Egrets, some Rainbow Bee-eaters and a Forest Kingfisher.

Overall I really liked the Territory Wildlife Park, it was one of the best ones I've been to.

Then we went back to the cars and drove to Darwin.  On July 1st the NT celebrates Territory Day and people were setting of a bunch of fireworks, so we stayed up watching them.

  Day 65 - Thursday - 23/7/2026 This morning we drove to Zebedee Springs and walk around in the hot water. There was a start 300m walk to the springs alongside the lush vegetation and huge cliffs. The springs weren’t two big because a bunch of rocks had fallen down into the springs blocking it off.  A small part of Zebedee Springs The crystal-clear water was super warm, and I found my spot in a rock pool where I built a dam and Me and Seb caught a tadpole. Day 1 - Alice Springs

Hello my name is Daniel, this blog is about my Australian holiday where I will be traveling with my family (Elvia/mum, Michael/dad, Sebastian/Seb/brother), grandparents (Heather/grandma, Keith/grandpa) and cousins for half of the trip (Charlie, Emily, Mat, Suzie).  Day 1 - Wednesday - 20/5/2026 - 5AM We woke up early at 5AM grabbed our bags and hopped in our uncle's car headed for the airport. We got out of the car went into the airport, printed out our tickets and headed through the baggage check were we and our luggage were scanned for illegal items. After we were given the all clear we headed for the nearby cafe in the airport because we didn't have any breakfast and were pretty hungry. Day 4 - Simpsons Gap & Standley Chasm

Day 4 - Saturday - 23/5/2026 - 10AM Today we drove 30 minutes to Simpsons Gap which is a gorge through the Macdonald Ranges which is close to Alice Springs. At about ten we arrived at the gap where we were joined with a park ranger who told us some interesting facts about the area mainly describing the plants and geology. Throughout the walk through the gap, we were on the lookout for the endangered black-footed rock wallabies and near the end we spotted a few jumping around. The gorge was quite large with rugged cliff faces, huge rocks and flowing water from the huge amounts of rain. After that walk we drove another 15 minutes to a place called Standley Chasm where we had lunch at a cafe and then started the walk into the chasm. At the start of the walk, we were walking in a big valley but as we entered the huge chasm we were surrounded with sheer cliffs only about 5 metres apart.
