Day 17 - Uluru Bike Ride & Field Of Light
Day 16 - Thursday - 4/6/2026
Today we drove from Alice Springs to Uluru except we had one problem, our cousin's car wouldn't start so we had to call roadside assist to come. Before they got there some people helped us and we were able to jump start the car but then the car wouldn't go into gear, so we had to wait for roadside assist to come and fix the car. When they got there, they tried to fix it but didn't have the right tools so they had to go and get them, that's when we left and drove to Uluru and about 1 hour later our cousins left. We stopped at Erldunda for lunch where there were a bunch of Emus, then we left Erldunda and drove the remaining hours to Uluru.
Day 17 - Friday - 5/6/2026
Today at about 8:15 we drove to a carpark very close to Uluru where all the boys went on a bike ride around Uluru. Once we got there, we grabbed our hire bikes and set off. The ride was pretty long, it was 15km and took about 2.5 hours. If you don't know what Uluru is it's basically this gigantic rock in the middle of the desert. In fact it is the biggest rock in the world with each side longways being about 4km and each side short ways being 1km.
The sensational cliff edges of Uluru looked like it would take around 200 hundreds of me stacked up on each other to get to the top of it. The start of the ride was also pretty hard because we kept getting bogged in sand, so we got fairly tired pretty fast. The middle of the ride was pretty easy though because it was so fast, we could get up a little speed and that made the ride a lot easier.
Uluru had a lot of holes in it and one of them even looked like a giant brain in the side of the rock, Uluru also had a lot of bumps and was pretty cool to look at.
When we had about 2km left we bumped into all of the girls who were doing a gorge walk so we quickly finished the ride and drove to the nearest carpark and did the gorge walk too. The gorge was pretty big because it was two bits of Uluru but personally, I don't really think it was a gorge. When we finished, we drove back to the caravan park and then drove to a nearby hotel where we painted animals in an aboriginal art style and I decided to pant and echidna and here's what I did.
